Theory: Flux is a Set of Controllers that Watch Git

Flux Operator installs controllers that reconcile GitRepository, Kustomization, HelmRelease objects. The cluster is the actor.

Invariants

  1. App repo vs env repo is a naming convention for desired state.
  2. A GitHub Action may update a tag in Git; Flux applies it.
  3. This book’s deep GitOps path continues with Argo CD (different UX, same theory).
